Flowering bulbs like crocuses, tulips and daffodils are one of the first signs of spring. They pique excitement for the sunny days to come. Although fairly low maintenance, there are a few things you should do to keep your bulbs blooming year after year.

Step 1

Sprinkle bone meal or a specially formulated bulb fertilizer such as Holland® Bulb Booster on the surface of the soil and work it in every spring and fall.

Step 2

When the bulbs are finished flowering, remove the flower head and stem, but don’t cut the leaves down until they’ve turned yellow. This ensures that the bulb has time to develop a flower bud for the following year.
